Class of 2016 Inducted into Hall of Fame

October 30, 2016

On Saturday, October 29, the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame hosted its 2016  Annual Induction Banquet  — an evening honoring 2016 Hall of Fame inductees: Susan Bramlette, Margaret Canby, Julie Cass and Dennis Ralston. The event was attended by more than 120 friends and family of the inductees as well as longtime supporters of the Museum.

“This year’s induction banquet was truly special,” remarked TTMHOF board president Courtney Henderson. “Not only were we able to honor four well-deserving individuals, we were joined in this celebration by over a hundred guests from Texas and across the country. We are grateful to our many friends and supporters for helping us pay tribute to these Texas tennis greats in this special way.”

The evening began with a cocktail reception where guests toured the Museum and enjoyed a special showing of WCT: A Road to Open Tennis — a documentary that features 2016 inductee Dennis Ralston. Afterwards, guests were seated in the Great Hall of the Sports Hall of Fame for dinner and the induction ceremony. Jim Chaffin, secretary/treasurer of the Museum, opened the program with a welcome to all guests and gave an overview of the TTMHOF’s  many initiatives.  He gave a special thank you to Andy Roddick for donating a autographed racquet to the Museum for the event's silent auction. Invocation was provided by Fernando Velasco.  Ken McAllister acted as Master of Ceremonies. A special video of each inductee , produced by USTA Texas, was screened and followed by an introduction of the inductee. Each was given the chance to say a few words and awarded a certificate, plaque and medallion signifying enshrinement into the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame.
