David Davis grew up in Abilene in modest circumstances, working at age 14 to help support his family of five brothers. When a middle school coach gave him his first racquet, his natural ability turned tennis into both a passion and a path to opportunity.

Excelling in high school led to college and a career in the sport he loved. Davis became a respected coach and leader, known for uniting teams and inspiring players. His leadership shaped the Abilene Tennis Association and positioned tennis as a vehicle for opportunity in the community.

He eventually returned to Rose Park Tennis Center, where his journey began. Over two decades, Davis strengthened the community both economically and socially, leaving an enduring legacy for future generations of players.
