Karl Kamrath Sr.

Karl Kamrath Sr. (1911-1988) was an American architect and tennis player. Kamrath won the national boys’ doubles title at Forest Hills in 1927. He teamed with Bruce Barnes to win the NCAA doubles crown in 1931 and won three consecutive Southwest conference doubles titles while competing for Dr. Daniel A. Penick’s UT tennis teams. During those collegiate years Kamrath won several state and sectional singles and doubles championships in the east and Midwest. He married fellow tennis player Eugenie Sampson in 1934 after graduating from the University of Texas.
