Peggy Vilbig Landtroop

Induction Year: 1994

 

Peggy Landtroop (1927-2006) was born in Dallas, Texas. She graduated Highland Park High School 1945 and University of Texas in 1949. She attended California State University, Long Beach graduate school studying physical education, 1965-67. She graduated from Whittier College with a MA in education in 1969.

 

Landtroop coached Whittier College women's tennis team. She later coached at Oak Cliff Country Club in Dallas (1969-70) and Turtle Creek Country Club in San Antonio (1976-78).

 

Landtroop was ranked in singles and doubles as a junior and adult. She won 19 silver, 29 gold balls and numerous other titles during her tennis career. She played in the Ladies 45 Doubles Tennis Invitational in Flushing Meadow, New York in 1980 and in the Olympia Cup competition for senior women in Mexico City in 1982.
