Bob McKinley (born 1950) grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, where he developed his passion for tennis and quickly rose to prominence as a junior player. A standout in the Missouri Valley Section and on the national stage, McKinley established himself as one of the top-ranked junior players in the country.

​

McKinley attended Trinity University from 1968 to 1972, where he became one of the most decorated players in the program's history. A four-time All-American, he helped solidify Trinity’s reputation as a collegiate tennis powerhouse. After graduating, McKinley competed on the professional tour from 1972 to 1974, achieving significant success in both singles and doubles. Partnering with Dick Stockton, he earned a national ranking of No. 2 in men’s doubles and reached the semifinals of the U.S. Open, cementing his status as a top-level competitor.

In 1974, McKinley returned to his alma mater as head coach of the Trinity University tennis program. Over the course of his tenure, he guided countless players to success, building on the legacy of excellence that defined Trinity’s tennis tradition. McKinley later joined Texas A&M University as an assistant coach, where he continues to share his wealth of experience and passion for the game.
