TTMHOF Announces Essay Contest Scholarship Winners

Updated: Aug 24, 2020

The Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame is proud to announce the results of its recent scholarship essay contest. The scholarships were established to recognize and provide educational assistance to high school juniors and seniors while fostering the study and appreciation of tennis history.

Students from Texas were invited to submit a 500-word essay. Work was judged on the basis of originality, quality of research and writing. Participants were required to write on the following essay prompt:

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the Texas tennis community as we have been advised not to play the sport we love. Explore another time or circumstance in history when tennis players were unable to participate in the sport. Some examples include: The Great Depression, World War I and II, Vietnam and times of segregation and gender inequality. How do the restrictions of the pandemic help you to relate? Please try and incorporate Texas-specific data.

Thank you to all of our participants. The TTMHOF judges were very impressed by the quality of submissions. The winners are:
