Jack Sampson

Induction Year: 2012

 

Jack Sampson was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1891. After college Jack took up tennis and became an accomplished player and coach of his two daughters Jeannie and Jayne. He joined his eldest daughter Jeannie and her family in Houston in 1952 where he set about building the Houston tennis community. His efforts made Houston one of the premier tennis cities in the United States, noted for its accessibility to people of all walks of life. Houston tennis owes much of its success to Sampson.
