Ron Woods

Induction Year: 2011

 

Ron Woods has been involved in the tennis industry for over 45 years. Woods was a top ranked junior in Texas and held sectional rankings in various age divisions. He received a full tennis scholarship to the University of Houston.

 

Woods was the director of tennis at the Corpus Christi Country Club from March 1970 until December 2001. During his 31 years of service at the Corpus Christi Country Club, Woods administered one of the most successful tennis programs in Texas. Woods continues to serve as pro emeritus at the Corpus Christi Country Club.

 

Woods, a USPTA Master Professional, is a charter member of the USPTA Texas Division. He is the past executive director of the USPTA Texas Division. He has volunteered and chaired of several USTA Texas and USPTA Division committees. While executive director from 2002 until 2009, the USPTA Texas Division won 6 USPTA National Division of the Year Awards and many individual awards for the division. Woods was voted that division’s Pro of the Year in 1988. In 2010 Woods was named the Alex Gordon National USPTA Pro of the Year. Woods has also been actively involved with the USTA Texas and has served on many committees.
