Rhoss "Buddy" Lomax

Induction Year: 2008

 

Buddy Lomax, born in 1934 in Laurel, Mississippi, began his tennis journey at the age of 13. He earned a tennis scholarship to Tulane University, where he competed from 1952 to 1956, securing three singles and doubles championships.

After graduating, Lomax dedicated 33 years to the United States Army, achieving the rank of Brigadier General. Upon retiring, he returned to competitive tennis, participating in national championships and representing the U.S. in international competitions, including the Von Cramm Cup, the USA Britannia Cup, and the ITF Cup Championship.

Lomax's post-military tennis career is marked by significant achievements. In 2009, he reached the finals of the USTA National Men's 75 Indoor Championships, showcasing his enduring skill and passion for the sport.
