Remembering Karl Kamrath Jr.: A Texas Tennis Legend

ree

We are saddened to share the passing of Karl Kamrath Jr., a true Texas tennis great. Born in 1935 and raised in a prominent tennis family, Karl’s love for the game took root early. At just 13, he captured his first tournament title, and by 1950, he was ranked No. 1 in the Texas boys’ division.

Karl went on to play for the University of Texas, where he was a key member of the 1955 team that won the Southwest Conference Championship and finished as runner-up at the NCAA Championships. Over the course of his career, he claimed an extraordinary 50 singles and doubles titles across the country, earning a reputation as both a fierce competitor and a steadfast ambassador for the sport.

Beyond the accolades, Karl’s lifelong dedication to tennis helped shape and elevate the game in Texas. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
