Marti Rodriguez

Induction Year: 2010

Martha “Marti” Eileen Rodriguez (1948-2007) was born May 13, 1948 in Austin, Texas. She attended New Braunfels High School, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas. Marti only played recreational tennis. She got her start when she joined the staff at the Texas Tennis Association in October 1983. She treasured her days when she helped with tournaments and got the chance to watch young people take up the game she loved so much.

Marti Rodriguez passed away on April 17, 2007 after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. She would be very proud of the tennis tournament held in her name (The Annual Marti Rodriguez Memorial Challenger) and the perpetual scholarship fund (Marti Rodriguez Scholarship) administered by the Texas Tennis and Education Foundation.
