Emily Schaefer

Emily Schaefer of Houston came to tennis naturally, growing up in a family of ranked players. As a junior, she distinguished herself with top state rankings. Schaefer went on to build a distinguished career at Princeton University, where she captured nearly every major collegiate honor.

After college, Schaefer returned to Houston as an assistant coach at Rice University and later as Director of Tennis for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. She became a dedicated volunteer at every level of the game, focusing especially on expanding access for underrepresented groups. Through National Junior Tennis and Learning programs, she reached more than 6,000 children.

Schaefer’s career has also included leadership roles with the Houston Tennis Association and service on the USTA National Board of Directors, reflecting her lasting commitment to advancing the sport and broadening its reach.
