Dave Snyder

Induction Year: 1986

Dave Snyder came to the University of Texas from Winfield, Kansas on a tennis scholarship after winning 2 state high school singles titles and reaching the quarterfinals at the national junior tournament. He helped lead the Longhorns to 3 Southwest Conference team championships and won the 1956 conference doubles crown with Sammy Giammalva Sr. In 1972 Snyder was named the 3rd coach ever at the University of Texas, replacing the retiring Wilmer Allison. When Dave Snyder retired in 2000 he had won 9-conference titles— including the first three Big 12 titles.
