Dave Snyder

Induction Year: 1986

Dave Snyder (1934-2023) came to the University of Texas from Winfield, Kansas, on a tennis scholarship after winning two state high school singles titles and reaching the quarterfinals at the national junior tournament. He helped lead the Longhorns to three Southwest Conference team championships and won the 1956 conference doubles crown with Sammy Giammalva Sr.

In 1972, Snyder was named the 3rd coach ever at the University of Texas, replacing the retiring Wilmer Allison. When Snyder retired in 2000, he had won 9-conference titles— including the first three Big 12 titles.
