Tennis has enjoyed a giant uptick in participation during the COVID-19 pandemic growing 27.9% since 2019 over a two-year span—that’s an additional 4.9 million players! The sport has such a rich history including so many outstanding individuals who have been inducted into the Texas Tennis Museum and Hall of Fame. For this year’s essay contest, we would like you to select one of the Texas Tennis Hall of Fame members and write about how they inspire you to play tennis. Perhaps it is someone you knew—whether by family relation, shared home town, college affiliation—or someone you are just learning about! In what way to you feel connected to the Hall of Fame member and their story? Please be as specific as possible.
A scholarship selection committee will choose three (4) scholarship winners.
All entries must be received by the contest deadline to be considered.
All applicants must have been/be high school seniors during the 2021-2022 school year, residing in the State of Texas.
Entries must follow the contest guidelines in terms of length and adherence to theme/topic.
All entries must be the original work of the entrant.
Essays become the property of TTMHOF and may be used in print, digital and web-based promotional materials.
The judging and selection process is at the sole discretion of TTMHOF and the selection committee chosen for such purpose.
